Gentle yoga is perfect for people who want to try yoga for the first time or for those who are looking for a softer approach to their practice. In this class we will combine gentle yoga poses with breathing exercises and restorative postures to stretch and strengthen the body, reduce stress and calm the mind. Everybody is welcome to practice yoga in this supportive environment. No yoga experience is required.

 

6 Week Trauma Informed Yoga with Jeremy

November 4 - December 16 5:30 – 7:00pm $135

Traumatic experiences can turn into stored patterns of physical and emotional pain, leading to a loss of connection to one’s body. Trauma informed yoga is a process designed to help individuals achieve healing by rediscovering a sense of peace and safety in their body.

A substantial amount of research supports the effectiveness of a regular yoga practice for decreasing the symptoms of trauma. Jeremy Bell, Registered Psychologist and Certified Yoga Instructor, will blend elements from both psychological and yogic practices to help participants develop their own personalized toolbox for self-healing.

Participants will be guided through a series of exercises designed to promote mindful exploration while emphasizing safety and choice. This class is opened to anyone interested in learning and experiencing trauma informed yoga. No previous yoga experience is required.

TUESDAY

7 Week Chair Yoga with Pat

November 5 - December 17 10:00am – 11:00am $98

Chair yoga offers benefits similar to the Beginner and Gentle Yoga classes, but we will use the chair to sit on and stand behind, enhancing safety and support. It is ideal for those who are unable to go down on a mat, or prefer not to. It will enhance your strength, balance, and movement, excellent for helping to prevent falls and maintain independence. Breathing exercises will be incorporated into the practice. All are welcome, and best to bring a yoga mat to put the chair on. See you on your “chairiot”! No experience needed.

 

7 Week Mum & Baby Yoga with Roxanne

November 5 - December 17 11:00am – 12:00pm $98

Share the joy of yoga with your baby! Mum & Baby yoga is a gentle practice which combines traditional Hatha postures for mums with stretching exercises, songs and soothing techniques for babies. While enjoying the company of other mothers and babies in an informal setting, mums can focus on building their strength and flexibility and on using breath and body awareness to achieve relaxation.

Suitable for all levels and for babies from 6-weeks to crawling. 

 

7 Week Guided Meditation with Rebecca

November 5 - December 17 6:00pm – 7:00pm $98

Experience a blend of both guided and silent meditation, visualization and the chance to reconnect to your whole being. Be reminded of the simple yet powerful act of coming back to the breath. This 6 week session will explore the themes of breath, journey, movement, mantra, sleep and the chakras for a full plate of experience throughout the course of this class. Rebecca is a Lifestyle Meditation certified 200 hour instructor and this class series is LM inspired.

 

7 Week Prenatal Yoga with Corinne

November 5 - December 17 7:15 – 8:30pm $98

Through the practice of prenatal yoga, expectant moms can develop strength, stamina and stability while becoming aware of how the practice needs to be modified for their changing bodies. Time is devoted to cultivating awareness of the breath and to what’s going on within the body, especially the belly. With this connection we turn inwards to cultivate internal resources we will draw on during labour and birth. Through a variety of postures, we explore the difference between discomfort, stretching and pain and discover ways to relax through it all.

7 Week Gentle/Beginner Yoga with Glenda

November 6 - December 18 5:45 – 6:45pm $98

Whether you are new to yoga or are familiar with the practice, Gentle/Beginner yoga will help you develop balance, strength and flexibility without feeling overwhelmed or confused. In this class we will take our time to get into postures focusing on the basics. We will combine yoga postures and breathing exercises to strengthen the body, reduce stress and calm the mind. No yoga experience is required.

7 Week Realignment Yoga with Darria

November 7 - December 19 7:15 – 8:15pm $98

Pain in our shoulders, back, hips, knees and ankles is often due to misalignment in our body. The class uses exercises designed to reposition, stretch and strengthen our muscles to help correct our dysfunctions. This can then help to realign our body so that it can function normally and without pain. This class is suitable for all levels, no yoga experience required.

Registering for Workshops & Classes

The family here at Yoga Within is always trying to think of ways to improve our schedule & classes to better fit what classes & workshops you want to see & attend. The most helpful way to do this is by your early registration for our Registered Classes & Workshops. We need a minimum number of people pre-registered for each class & workshop. Pre-registrations help us determine what classes you are still excited about & interested in & what we will keep on our future schedule. While we do our best to make as many of our classes open to drop-ins, we need to do as much pre-registration as we can so we can ensure your favourite classes run & stay on the schedule.
