Workshop 1: Yoga Anatomy 101 - Understanding the Basics 

Saturday October 19, 2024 – 8:30 am – 11:30 am 

In the first part of our workshop series, Yoga Anatomy 101, we will embark on an enlightening  journey to understand the foundational structures of the human body and their significance in  yoga practice. Led by Lisa, an experienced yoga teacher/therapist and Kinesiologist, this  introductory session is perfect for beginners and experienced yogis seeking to deepen their  understanding of anatomy. 

Workshop 1 Details: 

- Introduction to Human Anatomy: Explore the key anatomical structures, including bones,  joints, muscles, and connective tissues, and their roles in yoga asana. 

- Biomechanical Principles: Discover the importance of joint movements in yoga and how it can  enhance your practice. 

- Body Awareness: Develop a heightened sense of body awareness as you learn how muscles  and bones work together during various yoga postures. 

- Injury Prevention: Learn about common yoga-related injuries and how to prevent them  through informed modifications.

Workshop 2: Yoga Anatomy 102 - Exploring Deeper Connections

Building upon the foundation laid in Yoga Anatomy 101, the second part of our workshop  series, Yoga Anatomy 102, will take you deeper into the intricate connections within the human 

body during yoga practice. Lisa will guide you through advanced concepts to enhance your  practice and refine your understanding. Prerequisite: Completion of Yoga Anatomy 101 

 

Workshop 2 Details: 

- Advanced Anatomy Concepts: Dive into more complex anatomical aspects, exploring the  subtleties of the muscular and skeletal systems. 

- Breath and Movement: Understand the relationship between breath and movement, and how  it influences your yoga practice. 

- Incorporating Pelvic Floor Awareness: Discover techniques to incorporate pelvic floor  awareness into your yoga practice, enhancing the benefits of asanas and promoting a deeper  mind-body connection. 

- Explore the Hip Anatomy: Delve into the incredible anatomical structures of the hip joint and  associated muscles that play a crucial role in various yoga poses. 

- Deepening Meditation: Integrate anatomical awareness into meditation and deepen your  mind-body connection.

Workshop 3: Yoga Anatomy 103 - Mastering Your Practice

In the final installment of our workshop series, Yoga Anatomy 103, you will master your  practice by refining your understanding of anatomy and its application in yoga poses and  sequences. Lisa will guide you through intricate details that will elevate your practice to new  heights. Prerequisite: Completion of Yoga Anatomy 102  

Workshop 3 Details: 

- Remarkable Back Anatomy: Learn about the remarkable structures that make up the back,  including the spine, muscles, and supporting tissues, and how these elements contribute to  overall back health. 

- Shoulder Anatomy Essentials: Learn to cultivate a deeper sense of shoulder awareness during  your yoga practice and gain a comprehensive understanding of the unique features of the  shoulder, including bones, joints, ligaments, and muscles involved in shoulder movement  - Integration of Anatomy in All Poses: Analyze the anatomy behind yoga poses, including  forward bends, balance postures, inversions, side bends and backbends. 

- Sequencing with Intention: Learn to design yoga sequences that optimize anatomical  principles and enhance the overall practice.
